Curiosity has always driven me, but recently, it’s taken on a new form—a kind of obsession. For me, obsession isn’t just casual interest; it’s diving deep into topics, skills, or challenges that engage me. From exploring brain health to woodworking and my MBA studies, these obsessions keep me moving forward and always learning.

How My Stroke Changed My Approach to Curiosity

My stroke shifted my focus. It taught me the importance of directing my energy toward things I can control. My obsession with brain health and recovery isn’t just about fascination; it’s about survival. Learning everything I can about recovery has given me a sense of control and direction, reminding me that even in difficult circumstances, there are things I can actively work on.

Recent Inspirations and Challenges

Recently, I’ve become fascinated with subjects like hunting because of people like Joe Rogan and Cam Haines, who push boundaries and take on challenges with a singular focus. I’m also drawn to woodworking, a passion I hope to make more time for. Writing down new ideas and setting small goals helps me explore without feeling overwhelmed, allowing me to pursue these interests meaningfully.

Curiosity in Learning and Growth

Curiosity has been the backbone of my learning journey, especially through my MBA. It’s what keeps me diving deeper and challenging myself. Learning, I’ve realized, doesn’t end at any point—it’s an ongoing journey, and it keeps me from feeling stagnant. Curiosity and obsession drive me to explore new paths, always seeking what’s next.

Harnessing Obsession as a Tool

Over time, I’ve learned not to pressure myself to do everything at once. Obsession is a tool that helps me focus and move forward without losing sight of the bigger picture. Each new skill or interest adds depth to my recovery journey and to who I am, making every step along the way meaningful.

Staying curious has become my anchor. In facing the challenges of recovery, curiosity has guided me, helping me embrace both the practical and the challenging, always moving forward with purpose.
